Doha 2006 Asian Games

It’s one of the most prestigious events in Asia’s sporting calendar. The 15th Asian Games is Asia's own Olympics, held every four years. Staged in Doha, Qatar, the 2006 Games drew more than 10,500 of the region’s top athletes who came from 45 nations to compete across 46 disciplines. And Pico was on hand to offer them support.

It was no small task. Pico supplied and built about 400 fully-functioning tents, covering a total of 28,000 sqm, in 25 different venues, requiring 14,000 sqm of flooring and 12,000 sqm of carpets. In addition, Pico provided shading for athletes and spectators to rest from the glare of the Doha sun. Our professional services team was on hand throughout the Games to take care of project management, design, installation, maintenance, and dismantling when the Games were over.

Pico was the official contractor for the Games’ sites, which included the Doha Sailing Club, the West Bay Lagoon, the Qatar Bowling Club and Sports City, at Khalifa Stadium.

This was not the first time Pico has found itself sharing a stage with the world’s biggest sport stars. Prior to Doha, Pico was on hand at the 2004 Athens Olympics, the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games and the 2006 Torino Winter Olympics.
